to the Jelly Jazz web site Jelly Jazz have been running club nights and concerts in
the south west of England for 15 years. Our musical mission is to
set dancefloors alight with all things funky. A typical excursion
may take in soul, funk, jazz, latin, brazilian, Afro-funk, hip hop,
funky breaks from DJs and live bands.

What's this, another Christmas Party?! hell yea. We're celebrating the festive period big time this year with 3 Christmas Parties across the SW, with this one being a big LIVE Eden Project show. Once again it's a mix of arts, film and music which is quite fabulous. This session is getting bigger and bigger each time with the last one seeing over 300 people getting down to the funk whilst engaging in various art instalations. This time we have Cornish funksters Underbelly droppin' the live funk too, so it's gonna be a smasher.

Various 'The Future Sound of Cambridge 3'
(Hospital Records)
Here at Jelly central there's a war going on... Griff is firmly down the 'world' route with Cumbia, Latin and so on whilst I am going all out beats and Drum & Bass! Don't worry though, we still meet in the middle when it comes to funk and jazz and it makes for good listening at Jelly Jazz I think!
Hospital Records are blowing my mind relentlessly at the moment, must be our recent trip to Hospitality that did it! The latest 'Future Sound of Cambridge' has just landed in the office, and boy, what a massive album. Unbelievable fast soul music from Cambridge homeboys Commix, NU:TONE and Logistics proving that the Hospital sound is the most forward thinking D&B label out there. Just check Commix's 'Rack It', etheral, spooky and ultimately unnerving, but oh so good. And then you have classic Hospital with 'Intervention' from Logistics, huge synth intro followed by tough washed out beats and beautiful atmospherics. 'Balaclava' is the one for me though, just awesome....

Review update
Right, after having this LP on CONSTANT rotation on the ipod, on the stereo at home, onthe mac, in the car and out & about on the decks, I have to say that 'Cosmonaut' is THE MONSTER TUNE on here, what an absolute masterful slice of Drum & Bass. The string theme is hair raising bliss whilst the beats are crisp and juicy, absolutely wonderful.
